The laws are changing regarding the EPC rating of your properties. If you are thinking about renting out your property then you will need to make sure that the energy efficiency rating is at least an E. From 2028 this rating will change to a C.

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT EPCs
The EPC was introduced by the Government to comply with the Energy Performance of Building Directive (EPBD).
It records how energy efficient a property is, with the certificate providing an EPC rating of the energy efficiency and CO2 emissions of a property from A (extremely efficient) to G (least efficient).
The EPC includes recommendations on how to improve the property’s energy efficiency and indicates the rating the property could achieve if those recommendations were implemented.
EPCs are valid for 10 years and can be reissued as required within that period.
To make it possible for each property’s energy efficiency to be easily compared to a similar property, EPCs are produced using standard methods, with standard assumptions about energy usage.
WHY A GOOD EPC RATING IS IMPORTANT
Upgrading your property can be a sound financial investment if and when you choose to sell – research from Rightmove shows that sellers who upgraded the Energy Performance rating of their home to a C rating achieved up to a 16% increase in their selling price, compared to less energy efficient homes.
